Trump Calls for prayer for Scalise and shows his friendship

After Wednesday’s incident word travelled fast across the whole nation about the shooting of several individuals at a Republican baseball practice by an insane leftist, and President Trump didn’t waste a second showing everybody how a real president should react in such a situation, something Obama never did.

After the incident which occurred early in the morning in Alexandria, President Trump went on and issued a statement regarding the shooting:

“The Vice President and I are aware of the shooting incident in Virginia and are monitoring developments closely,” Trump said, reports The Washington Post.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with the members of Congress, their staffs, Capitol Police, first responders, and all others affected.”

And then continued with a tweet, saying:

“Rep. Steve Scalise of Louisiana, a true friend and patriot, was badly injured but will fully recover. Our thoughts and prayers are with him,” the president said in a tweet.

Later that day President Trump made another tweet after visiting the hospital:

“Just left hospital. Rep. Steve Scalise, one of the truly great people, is in very tough shape – but he is a real fighter. Pray for Steve!” the tweet read.

As reported by Fox News, Rep. Scalise’s condition is still critical and he remains at the MedStar Washington Hospital and will require further surgery.

“The bullet traveled across his pelvis, fracturing bones, injuring internal organs, and causing severe bleeding,” a statement from the hospital read. “He underwent immediate surgery, and an additional procedure to stop bleeding. He has received multiple units of blood transfusion.”

You should pay attention to President Trump’s attitude regarding this situation. Despite the shooter’s obvious motivation, which was strictly political, there was no attempt by the president to politicize Wednesday’s incident in the immediate aftermath. What followed was just a call for prayer for Scalise and expressing his friendship with the House majority whip.

Unlike President Trump, former President Obama went right away after the opposite – his reaction to a high-profile shooting was reflexively political.

The reaction Trump showed on Wednesday is exactly what a president should do.
