Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) took a knee on the House floor Monday night to express solidarity with NFL players protesting police brutality. She is not the only lawmaker to disrespect the country.
Jackson Lee is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, and she blasted the President for attacking NFL athletes who took a knee during the Star-Spangled Banner at games. She supports players who oppose the treatment African Americans receive from law enforcement. But, that’s not the only thing she did.
Jackson Lee joined NFL protesters, and took a knee herself. “I kneel in honor of them. I kneel in front of the flag and on this floor. I kneel in honor of the First Amendment. I kneel because the flag is a symbol for freedom. I kneel because I’m going to stand against racism. I kneel because I will stand with those young men and I’ll stand with our soldiers. And I’ll stand with America, because I kneel,” the lawmaker stated.

Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick was the first to protest the national anthem. His started off the controversy, and took a knee during the national anthem. This got him out of the league, and no team wanted to sign him. Kaepernick made a terrible mistake, and his sports career went down the hill. Many believe that he will never get the chance to do anything else, at least not in the field of sports.
President Trump used his Alabama rally to condemn NFL players and everyone who support the nonsense. “Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now. He is fired,’” the President said.
But, lawmakers like Jackson Lee and other players condemned the President, and the protests became massive. These people have joined their forces, but we still don’t know their reason for doing this.
