A report has just been issued revealing that the Clinton campaign as well as the DNC paid for the Trump dossier which had the goal of taking down President Donald J. Trump.
The report further elaborates the claim that the former Secretary of State’s presidential campaign joined arms with the Democratic National Committee to help fund research which resulted in the now-famous dossier that contains allegations about the Donald Trump’s connections to Russia, as well as possible coordination between his campaign and the Kremlin.
The information surfaced from people familiar with the matter.A lawyer representing the DNC and the Clinton campaign, Marc E. Elias, retained Fusion GPS, to conduct the research.
Fusion GPS later hired an author Christopher Steele, who is a former British intelligence officer that has strong ties to the FBI as well as the U.S. intelligence community, to take part in writing the Trump dossier.
Both Elias and his law firm known as Perkins Coie, retained the firm back in April 2016 on behalf of the DNC and the Clinton campaign. But before that agreement ever took place, Fusion GPS’ research into the now sitting president was funded by an unknown Republican client during the GOP primary.
And the DNC along with the Clinton campaign kept on throwing their funds at Fusion GPS’ research until the end of October 2016, which was just a few days before Election Day.
Once they were done gathering their necessary info, Elias received all the reports and other research documents from Fusion GPS, and while it is still unclear how much and what information was shared with the campaign and DNC, and what members of those organizations were aware of the roles of Fusion GPS only one thing is speculated.
A person close to the entire thing revealed that the DNC weren’t informed of Fusion GPS’ role by the law firm.
